Farm Sales and Distribution Internship Description

 

SUMMARY:

The Farm Sales and Distribution Intern’s role is to assist in increasing sales of The GrowHaus hydroponic, aquaponic, and mushroom farm products by working closely with farmers and customers, both new and existing. Our current customer base includes 40 restaurants and small market customers. The Farm Sales and Distribution Intern will help promote The GrowHaus mission of serving as a hub for food production in Denver. Responsibilities will include building relationships, providing samples, sending out weekly availability lists, offering sales/discounts, and delivering orders. This position is responsible for assisting the Farm Sales and Distribution Coordinator with all aspects of sales and distribution of farm produce.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Farm Sales and Distribution Coordinator in maintaining relationships with existing farm customers through emails, promotions, product requests, and complaint resolution. Provide excellent and consistent customer service

  • Assist in recruiting new customers through email, farm tours, networking, dropping off samples and canvassing

  • Assist in farm deliveries every Tuesday and Friday from 8am-5pm.  

  • Give customers farm tours as needed and seasonally

  • Create and update marketing materials- price sheets, brochures, product lists, etc.

  • Maintain customer database and customer notes

  • Track mileage, gas, and van expenses in vehicle log

  • Maintain cleaning logs for delivery vehicle

  • Perform farm check shifts as needed on holidays and some weekends

  • Assist when needed on farm emergencies

  • Work closely with GrowHaus farmers to understand production projections, coordinate on marketing, etc.

  • Represent The GrowHaus at events on and off site as needed

 

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS, EXPERIENCES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Upbeat and driven attitude, ability to perform sales pitch with comfort

  • Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to excel at details, multi­tasking and working under pressure

  • Occasional need for weekend or evening availability

  • Flexible attitude and a strong team player

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse professionals and community members

  • Self starter - ability to stay on top of projects

  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license

 

SCHEDULE:

  • Six month internship

  • 15-20 hours per week

  • Schedule is somewhat flexible but must be able to commit to either Tuesdays 8am-5pm or Fridays from 8am-5pm. The remaining internship hours can be decided on a case-by-case basis
