Assistant to the Program Director



An important part of the GrowHaus’ mission is food education in the form of teaching people to grow food and cook using healthy food. Community education programs, free classes for all Elyria-Swansea residents are at the heart of this mission. Current community education programs include the following classes: Micro Farm, Micro Business, Future Micro Farm, Swansea Sprouts, and Cocinando saludable con sus hijos (cooking healthy with your kids). The Assistant to the Program Director will work directly with the Program Director to plan, promote, and evaluate community education programming and interact with community residents to engage them in GrowHaus programs and services.


  • Assist with clerical and administrative tasks

    • Experience with Google Drive (or willingness to learn) preferred

  • Create and organize documents for class curriculum

    • Good formatting skills preferred

  • Translate relevant documents (English-Spanish)

    • Spanish language skills preferred, not required

  • Attend meetings, take notes

  • Assist with communication between the program director and the community

  • Assist with planning and execution of events

  • Create a welcoming environment in the front space of The GrowHaus

  • Take part in classroom set up, lessons

  • Scheduling for the Program Director

  • Responsibilities may vary day to day, assistant will wear many different hats


  • 4-8 month commitment

  • 10-15 hours/week

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, not required

  • Applicants from diverse backgrounds encouraged

  • Friendly and respectful, with good interpersonal skills

  • Interest in healthy eating, cooking, gardening, sustainability etc.

  • Experience in community outreach/organizing, marketing, graphic design, etc. preferred

  • Salesforce, logic model, and budgeting experience desired
