#GrowingTambién

A campaign to welcome 100 new members to our monthly giving community, También, by Labor Day.

To help us reach the finish line, our Board of Directors has pledged to donate an additional $50 for every person who joins También before Labor Day!

We are over 70% of the way to our goal, will you help us get to the finish line?

También, which means "also" or "too" in Spanish, started with the idea that people all across Denver could come together to support our neighbors in Globeville and Elyria-Swansea. By giving a little bit every month, people can show their solidarity with our community and reaffirm that access to healthy food should be a right for all, not a privilege for some.

#GrowingTambién allows our programs to expand their impact….

“As a community member and mother, growing También means I’m able to give my family a healthy future.”

Guadalupe holds up rescued radishes to be distributed in The GrowHaus’ weekly no-cost grocery program and cooking class, Cosechando Salud (Harvesting Health). Using rescued food from local grocery stores, volunteers, community members, and our Promotora team cook a nutritious community lunch to be enjoyed by all. After cooking, community members are encouraged to take home extra raw ingredients, so they can replicate recipes at home. The Promotora team distributes over 50,000 lbs of food through this program every year and reaches over 1,000 different people.

Carmen, pictured above has been participating in The GrowHaus' 'Growing Readers, Growing Leaders' program, where young kiddos learn about growing and cooking healthy food alongside their parents. In this class, Carmen made fresh tortillas with her mom. Together, they are building healthy habits and are empowered to live a more nourished life.

Irving, who lives in Montbello but has roots in Globeville and Elyria-Swansea, was hired as the first Farm Apprentice in 2018. The Farm Apprenticeship is a year long paid position for someone to learn the day-to-day operations of The GrowHaus hydroponic, aquaponic, and mushroom farm, while developing their leadership skills. Irving jumped right in, showcasing his incredible work ethic, unique problem solving ability, and excellent sense of humor. Just last month, we hired on Irving to a permanent role, and are hiring currently for a new apprentice.
