Over the past six years, Gudalupe Rodriguez has been working as a Promotora at The GrowHaus, providing education around nutrition and wellness to residents of Globeville and Elyria-Swansea.

“I have seen how The GrowHaus has been walking hand in hand with the community. We have created bonds of trust in the community by bringing resources to people's homes based on their needs.”

But her role is much more than an educator - she is a trusted community resource. You can often find Guadalupe celebrating quinceneras with community members or sharing a meal during times of distress.

“We support community members on their leadership journey. We make sure they have the tools they need to grow in their personal lives and jobs.”

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Guadalupe’s role became more critical than ever before. Early in the pandemic, a man named Ezequiel called Guadalupe. His hours as a shuttle driver at DIA had been cut. Guadalupe was immediately able to sign up Ezequiel’s family to receive a no-cost healthy food box every week from The GrowHaus. We were even able to help him secure work with our delivery food partner, Bondadosa.

“I am proud to be working in this organization, where I learned to develop my leadership skills and the necessary tools to do what I like the most, to be a bridge to help the community, many thanks.”

Now, as The Community Outreach Associate Manager, Guadalupe has supported two Promotora Apprentices as they grew into full time Promotora roles.

“My goal with my fellow Promotoras is to give them tools to support their growth as leaders of this community. Their achievements will be motivation for other community members, creating a cycle of strong community leaders!” Guadalupe Rodriguez
