Development and Communications Coordinator

Salary: $50,000-$55,000, dependent on experience

About The GrowHaus
The GrowHaus is a community-led nonprofit organization in Denver whose mission is to cultivate community-led food justice through food access, wellness education, career opportunities, and leadership development to build sustainable generational economic security. Founded in 2009 to serve the North Denver neighborhoods of Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea, The GrowHaus has expanded and now serves over 7,000 neighbors across Metro Denver per month through strategic partnerships with Denver Public Library, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, Thriving Families, and other community hubs.  

Joining The GrowHaus is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced organization leading Denver’s food justice movement. We are continuing to maximize philanthropic contributions and earned revenue to drive sustained impact and to support our strategic goals of scaling across the Front Range.

A Sample of Work Entailed, but not an Exhaustive List:

  • Operation and administrative tasks to ensure all donor information is up to date and that donations are processed promptly. You’ll need to be detail-oriented and comfortable learning a new donor database.  

  • Lead stewardship efforts for The GrowHaus’ monthly membership program, Tambien. You must be comfortable making thank-you calls, writing letters to donors, and using a donor database and Google Sheets to track donor touch points. 

  • Create and implement a social media strategy that keeps our audience engaged and informed about The GrowHaus’ work and impact. You must be familiar with social media trends and be comfortable crafting compelling, engaging posts. 

  • Support planning of donor events throughout the year, including Harvest Nights, a three-night elevated pop-up dinner series with 400 attendees and 20 of Denver’s best restaurants. You’ll need to work well under pressure and have an excellent ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

  • Regularly update The GrowHaus’ website and newsletters with dynamic, engaging content. You must be creative and comfortable with learning or working in Squarespace and Mailchimp. 

  • Maintain and develop The GrowHaus’ Photo Archive, featuring a selection of photos and videos that accurately capture programming at The GrowHaus. You must have an eye for photography and be ready to jump into programming to get the perfect shot!

Required Job Skills, Experiences, and Qualifications: 

  • Conversational in English and Spanish 

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to excel at details and prioritize under pressure

  • Experience in a professional communications role, creating social media content

  • Comfortable working in the Google Suite

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively and respectfully work with diverse individuals and community members

  • Highly responsible and comfortable working independently

  • Appreciate a feedback culture

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning

  • Experience working in a donor database 

  • Photography and editing skills 

  • Experience in learning and effectively utilizing software for workflow

Compensation and Benefits
This a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $50,000-$55,000 per year. Compensation is based on verifiable experience and qualifications. Benefits include full medical coverage, FAMLI, retirement savings plan, competitive PTO (three weeks vacation plus one week sick leave), generous company holidays, and continuous professional development opportunities. The majority of this job will take place onsite at our Denver location.

About the Role
The Development and Communications Coordinator is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about social justice with experience in communications who is ready to jump in and make an impact.
