FOOD ACCESS ASSOCIATE - TEMPORARY OPPORTUNITY
Hours: Temporary 25-29 hours per week - Temporary
Reports to: Food Access Manager
Compensation: Starts at $22/hour

OPPORTUNITY:
The GrowHaus is a Denver neighborhood food access nonprofit with a mission to cultivate community-driven food justice through education and food access.
As a Food Access Associate, you will join our team to assemble and organize hundreds of food boxes that are delivered to clients each week. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced warehouse position where the most important qualities are consistency, reliability, and punctuality. You must also be available to deliver food boxes for some of our programs. As such, you must also have a clean driving record and personal insurance, as you will drive the organization's van when needed.
Our packing team sorts and makes over 500 food boxes each week. We pack food boxes to distribute for free and at low cost in the Denver area, and we also pack boxes to sell throughout the city. The GrowHaus produce subscription service brings fresh organic produce to your doorstep. We also deliver food boxes to private homes/apartments, some Denver public libraries, and Boys and Girls Clubs.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (this list is not exhaustive, but it demonstrates the responsibilities most commonly encountered in this job):
Legally authorized to work in the USA
Language: Spanish and English (required)
Keep your driver's license and vehicle insurance up to date. (Clean driving record)
Place produce in the correct boxes based on quality and quantity.
Follow all instructions from the Team Leader and Manager during the packing process.
Carefully review product quality as we often receive donations that must be thoroughly checked.
Stay in place for long periods while repacking produce and packing food boxes while paying close attention to detail.
Fold and glue cardboard boxes on a daily basis.
Load and unload pallets of food as it is delivered
Operate basic digital/computer functions (email, scheduling system, messaging, lists)
Ability to read, understand training and obtain certifications associated with this position including food safety/sanitation certification, heavy machine training, and others as assigned by department supervisor.
Lift and move large boxes of food weighing 25-50 lbs, Special assistance and accommodations are provided to individuals who require it. Organize and clean daily and weekly according to our protocols.
Able to stand for up to 8 hours while performing physical tasks such as lifting, twisting, and repetitive motions
Must be on time and ready to work every day.
