Happy International Women’s Day

The Growhaus believes that Creating equitable opportunties for women to thrive will build community wealth and drive food justice.

Career Pathways for women in Globeville and Elyira-Swansea

The GrowHaus is committed to providing immediate food support to families in our community, as well as opportunities to achieve economic security. We know that when women succeed, families, communities, and our economy is stronger.

But women in the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea neighborhood have faced systemic barriers to education and resources to meaningful career paths.

The GrowHaus is working to build community-wealth through our Promotora Apprenticeship program. In 2020, The GrowHaus launched the Promotora Apprentice program to expand the reach of our community outreach programming, while providing access to economic opportunities and job training for our neighbors.

Promotora Apprentices go through a robust one year training program, to equip them with the hard and soft skills needed to thrive in the workplace.

Over the past two years, The GrowHaus’ Promotora Apprentices, Ynes and Araceli, provided significant support and guidance to our neighbors in Globeville and Elyria-Swansea, and they recently transitioned to full-time Promotoras.

“The GrowHaus has helped me discover my strengths and continue learning and growing as a mother and leader.” Araceli

In addition to leading health and wellness classes, Promotoras serve as community navigators. They listen deeply to community needs and connect them to available resources inside and outside of The GrowHaus, including other community organizations and government assistance programs.

Araceli says that community members always make her feel at home during ‘home visits.’ Home Visits give Promotoras the chance to connect in a more in-depth way with neighbors, where they really get a sense of what is happening in their lives.

“I am proud to work at the growhaus - but more than anything, I am proud to support my community.” Araceli

Thank you for supporting The GrowHaus and the women leading our community!
