Community Programs and Food Access Apprentice
Hours: Part-time (20 hours/week non-exempt), Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, as well as occasional weekend and after-school hours as needed to support programs
Duration: 18 months with the opportunity for promotion to Community Programs and Food Access Promotor(a) upon successful completion of the program and its training.
Reports to: Community Wellness, Education, and Engagement Manager, with some reporting to the Food Access Manager(s)
Pay: $20/hour
Location: Denver, Colorado (On-site)

The mission of The GrowHaus is to cultivate community-driven food justice through education and food access. We offer food access programming, educational opportunities for growing and cooking food, and overall wellness. We strive to be a community-driven organization, with all programs led and implemented by members of our community or others from similar neighborhoods.
Position Overview
This position will support community health and wellness education initiatives, food access efforts, and foster connections across all GrowHaus programs. The Apprentice will co-facilitate classes, support outreach efforts, and serve as a welcoming and consistent presence for community members. This position requires strong communication skills, a hands-on approach, and an enthusiasm for working closely with people. The Apprentice will have the opportunity to learn and grow in the areas of:
Food access and justice
Working for/with community-led organizations
Developing research-backed community and youth programming
Facilitating classes, home visits, and workshops
Fostering access and inclusion
Apprentices with The GrowHaus will undergo rigorous, hands-on training in the areas above (and more!) and have the opportunity to grow into a full-time, benefited role as a Promotor(a) upon successful completion of the program and its training requirements!
Key Responsibilities*
Assist Programs team in the creation of curricula for community wellness classes, home visits, events, and workshops.
Assist Programs team with community wellness class, home visit, event, and workshop facilitation.
Support Food Access Managers with community communications and outreach.
Assist Food Access Managers with procurement tasks, including tracking orders and maintaining records.
*This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and the Apprentice will be tasked with supporting GrowHaus programs and departments as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Must demonstrate trustworthiness, reliability, sincerity, an eagerness to learn, and an enthusiasm for working directly with Denver community members
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be available to work part-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, as well as occasional weekend and after-school hours as needed to support programs.
Must have reliable access to transportation
Must be able to carry 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in both English and Spanish and/or experience working with Spanish-speaking communities
Experience using a laptop computer, email, and Google Suite products (particularly Google Calendar and Google Sheets)
Passionate about food justice, health, and wellness
Experience working with multiple age groups, particularly children and/or seniors
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate starting at $20/hour
