Community Programs and Food Access Promoter(a)

Hours: Hourly, full-time (40 hours/week Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, as well as occasional weekend and after-school hours as needed to support programs.

Reports to: Community Wellness, Education, and Engagement Manager, with some reporting to Food Access Manager(s)

Pay: $22/hour, plus benefits

Location: Denver, Colorado (On-site)

Languages Required: Fluency in Spanish and English is essential for this position.

Position Overview

The GrowHaus is hiring a passionate individual from the community to join our team as a Community Programs and Food Access Promoter(a). This position involves leading community health and wellness education initiatives, supporting food access efforts, and fostering connections across all GrowHaus programs. The promotor(a) will co-facilitate classes, support outreach efforts, and serve as a welcoming and consistent presence for community members. This position requires strong communication skills, a hands-on approach, and a deep enthusiasm for working closely with people.

The ideal candidate brings experience working intensely with the community and has experience as a Promotor(a), and is familiar with the home visitation model and community education. The Promotor(a) brings a warm personality and a willingness to participate fully in all programs alongside community members. The Promotor(a) is expected to take the initiative in education and outreach, with support from the Community Wellness, Education, and Engagement Manager.

Key Responsibilities*

  • Build positive and respectful relationships with community members.

  • Be hands-on, enthusiastic, and present in all programs and community gatherings.

  • Plan and participate in community outreach activities through in-person events and calls.

  • Co-create and facilitate community wellness classes, home visits, events, and workshops.

  • Support Food Access Managers with community communications and outreach.

  • Assist Food Access Managers with procurement tasks, including tracking orders and maintaining records.

  • Support youth and multigenerational programs.

  • Collaborate to create curricula and plan programs.

  • Foster the successful execution of program plans.

*This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and the Apprentice will be tasked with supporting GrowHaus programs and departments as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be available to work full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, as well as occasional weekend and evening hours as needed to conduct programs.

  • Must have reliable access to transportation

  • Must be fluent in both English and Spanish

  • Must be comfortable with working with children ages 0-18.

  • Must be able to carry 25 lbs.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and a sincere enthusiasm for community work

  • Must have experience using a laptop computer, email, and Google Suite products (particularly Google Calendar and Google Sheets).

  • Must be comfortable being hands-on and actively engaging with participants

  • Must be able to speak confidently in front of groups and lead interactive activities, or be committed to growing those skills

  • Must be willing to learn, take initiative, and grow in leadership

  • Must be flexible and adaptable, able to pivot between tasks throughout the day and week

  • Must enjoy working as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in community organizing, home visitation, and/or Promotora work

  • Passionate about food justice, health, and wellness

  • Desire to align programs with community voice

  • Experience working with adults and children

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly rate starting at $22/hour
